Why it is so important to take care of your cars suspension.

Our cars are made up of several systems, each working together to allow the car to run smoothly and efficiently.

One of those systems we are talking about is your cars suspension. The suspension system involves the vehicles tyres, springs, shock absorbers and connections that attach a vehicle to its wheels. 

The role of the suspension system is to provide good handling, steering ability, to even out the ride over a rough road surface and to allow proper tyre grip.  

If one of the components of the suspension is failing or in need of repair or replacement, you can expect to experience the following signs:

If your tyres are wearing in certain spots rather than uniformly, it could be a sign your suspension needs attention and isn’t holding the car evenly on the road. 

Suspension is responsible for ride comfort, so if you start to feel every bump in the road, your suspension needs work.  

If the front of your car dips when you firmly apply the brakes, this indicates the shock absorbers are becoming worn out and need replacing. A vehicle with a failing suspension system results in the braking system being less effective. 

A failing suspension systems means your vehicle is less responsive during turns and the handling becomes poor. If your car pulls or drifts whilst you are turning, the shock absorbers within the suspension system are beginning to fail. Be aware, if turning at speed, your vehicle could roll over.

If you notice fluid is leaking from the shock absorbers or struts under your car, your suspension system will not be working properly and needs attention.
