Log book servicing. Does it have to be done by the manufacturer?

When vehicle manufacturers roll off their brand, new vehicles from the factory floor, the lucky new owners are given a log book for the vehicles services.

The log book serves as a record that the manufacturers recommended service intervals have been carried out by a registered servicing agent to keep the new car warranty intact.

Vehicles must have their log book services carried out to ensure they are running at optimal levels at all times.

Generally, a log book service will involve servicing your vehicles engine, transmission, brakes and suspension along with any other specific components dependent on the kilometres travelled.

It is true that you don’t have to take the vehicle back to the manufacturer for log book servicing, but where trouble can arise, is if the vehicle owner gets the services carried out by a mechanic whose workmanship voids the warranty and then the car owner is left with no recourse should something happen with the vehicle in the future.
